Note that the tablature above shows several notes below the lowest note available on the D whistle. The following tablature is intended for a low G whistle and all notes are available on the whistle though most of them are in the upper octave. Obviously, the tablature below could be played on other whistles besides a low G. However, you must exercise extreme caution when doing so! This describes what happens when the tablature below is played on various whistles:
- Low D: You are playing in the key of D. It sounds good and you can't complain. Literally, you can't complain! You have no breath to complain after playing that huge piece of plumbing almost continuously in the upper octave.
- Low G: You are playing in the key of G. It sounds great. You are congratulating yourself for having had the foresight to purchase a whistle in a key everyone told you was useless.
- Bb: You are playing in the key of Bb. You think it sounds good but your children are beginning to cry.
- C: You are playing in the key of C. Your spouse is beginning to cry.
- D: You are playing in the key of D. Your ears are ringing so loudly that you don't notice when the moving van comes to collect your spouse, children, and furniture.
- Eb: You are playing in the key of Eb. Every dog in the neighborhood is baying at your door.
- F: You are playing in the key of F. Your ears are bleeding and the neighbors have sent in dozens of magazine subscription cards in your name.
- G: You are playing in the key of G maybe you haven't actually been able to hear for quite some time now. Dogs are dying at your front door and small planes are falling from the sky.
